Concert Summary

This is one of the shows in the last tour of the classic "Roundabout"-era of Yes until they reunited after 2000. The band had always been fueled by many internal conflicts, as were many other classic prog-rock bands such as ELP, King Crimson and The Moody Blues. By the time this show was taped for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, there were clearly two camps within the band: the one for more commercial and conventional radio songs, and the camp who…entire summary

Doctor r ... no it is certainly the BBC broadcast and certainly 28-Oct-1978 evening, first broadcast not live but in November 1978 on the Friday Rock Show. Have another listen. Don't Kill The Whale from yesshows is the same performance, but Time & A Word on yesshows is 27th and different. Best live album never to be released.

I aws at this concert with my first gf (brenda where are you now). This was a super show on their 10th Anniversary shows dedicated to all us Yes fans who had been with them 10 true summers long. The running order is not correct as the Time and a Word medley was placed just after Circus of Heaven. i still have my original c90 tape of the bbc show. Thank you vaults for bringing back so many memories.

I saw them around this time at the Boston Garden. They played on a round revolving stage, and they opened with siberian khatru as well.It was one of the best shows ever. That is until I saw them again a couple years ago on there 35th aniversary show at the Tsongas arena in Lowell,Ma. I couldn't beleave it they didn't miss a beat. That show was recorded on DVD "songs from Tsongas" well worth the investment.

"Starship Trooper/the Wurm" is one of my three favorite YES cuts...the others being "Close to the Edge" , "And You and I".....I love this version of "Starship Trooper".....Steve's guitar work is phenomenal, Chris Squire, as always, provides technical brilliance on the bass, he's extremely underrated....Rick Wakeman is almost ethereal and out-of-body on this, he's incredible... Like MojaveMike, they still give me goosebumps and thrills when I hear them ...thanks WV for keeping the spirit alive!

wade- Yes was known to do things like that- they would play in towns to 'small' for other big acts- In some tiny hamlet somewhere I saw Squire do a bass solo that changed my life. Good chaps.

The Valley still rules and so does YES, this vault reminds me of being at Madison Square Gardens with, Otis, Nadine, Diane P. RIP< Dave, Del, Anne P, ect. in 1978. Still rocking, miss their jams. I love looking back. I remember meeting Jon, Rick, Steve, and the rest of the band in Richmond, and going backstage. D.C. also, thanks to the manager. I hope Ken and Dave are still jammin to the music. Diane

I have found my 1978 recording of the BBC show and this is not it. The BBC broadcast was on 10-27-78. In addition Don't Kill The Whale from this show (10-28-78) is on the Yesshows CD. If you have it give it a listen, then try to figure how it could be the same recording. It is obvious the track on the CD (or LP) has been wildly overdubbed in the studio, and for all of it is far worse than this excellent version. To all the poeple new to Yes this is one of the best concert recordings of them I have ever heard, and as I have collected concrts for decades I have heard a lot.
