Concert Summary

This 1985 recording of Y&T was made three years before they disbanded initially in 1988. Recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, the show was the basis of its Open Fire live album, released later in the year.

Y&T and was going from its longtime label home at A&M to the upstart high-brow label, Geffen, and the live disc was delivered to fulfill obligations. The show recorded for KBFH features many of the same songs, with a set that is heavy of 1980s hard-rock standard fare. Titles like "Lipstick And Leather," "Go For The Throat," and "25 Hours A Day" sum up the lyrical vibe…entire summary

Saw them twice in late 80's, they sounded great. Very underrated for some reason.. Everybody liked them but...

MrDigits has know idea what he is talking about!! Dave blows Sammy away anyday, both vocaly and on guitar. Y&T were ahead of their time, and just did not have the right gimmic to crack the cheesy 80's scene, ask most mucisians of the time, and Y&T was one of the originals, and an inspiration to many bands who would breakout bigtime with a lot less talent than Y&T. The lyrics are anything but cliche. Try and find something better to do with your time than to rag on people with talent.

how is it possible that such a band could be so underated!!! If someone know, please explain. So great. Dave is awesome during the solos and a good singer too, bluesy like singer. Love them.

I dont even get the Sammy connection. Two totally different voices. Dave does just fine. I saw this tour in Sacramento. Y&T opened for Iron Maiden, and there was a third band that opened the show which I can never remember. It was in the old Capitol Theater. Too many drugs back in those days, but I wont ever forget the show Y&T and Iron Maiden put on. Y&T still one of the greats of that era.

Forever Rules, They Are Classic Hard Rock

problem is, Dave's vocals started sounding like a bad (as in not good) version of Sammy Hagar if you can imagine that. Really tasty guitarist though for sure. OK OK Sammy lovers dont get mad. I have had a love hate relationship with Sammy for years and I'm sure I'm not alone. Yes he knows how to rock but he is awfully cheesy alot oif the time. Anyway getting back to Meniketti, he ended up sounding too much like the "red rocker"...see what i mean?

and on top of that, Dave's vocals started sounding like a bad (as in not good) version of Sammy Hagar if you can fancy that...really tasty guitarist though
