Concert Summary

Few bands have managed to capture the essence of a time and place like X. Creatively light years ahead of contemporaries like Black Flag and the Germs, this quartet of Los Angelans trod the often imperceptible line between amateurish simplicity and fine art. Rather than "Good Vibrations" polish or glitzy, Aqua-Net-and-spandex sleaze, this is the REAL sound of Southern California: desperate and desolate, but still looking cool and ready to party.

Though punk was, in some ways, a reaction to the lingering…entire summary

Arguably one of the best bands to ever come from the great Golden State. I've seen them a few dozen times over the years from the early 80's to the later reunion shows and they always bring the A game. I would love to own this and wouldn't mind paying, please make it available for download.

Here's a math word problem: the band X were way ahead of there time; answer X = X

I've seen them 4 times, the first being Grad Night at Disneyland in 1985....they had one stage and across the park at another stage were The Blasters!!!!AND their shows weren't at the same time,so it was a heck of a busy, fun night!!!Haven't danced that much in my life and doubt I ever will!!!

X rocked(s). How did we come to Coldplay and American Idol?

  • drclueful | Tuesday, June 16, 2009 | 9:33 pm

A great era...their fourth album pushed here, "More Fun in the New World," was their peak with Ray Manzarek at the console. But they're still cranking it hard today.

  • chiliD | Tuesday, June 16, 2009 | 3:53 pm

I saw 'em New Year's Eve 1983-84 at the Long Beach Arena as the middle act between Los Lobos and headliners The Motels...awesome night of local LA bands.
