Concert Summary

Wire Train was made up of four students who attended San Francisco State University together in the early 1980s. In 1983, guitarists Kevin Hunter and Kurt Herr, along with drummer Frederico Gil-Sola and bassist Anders Rundblad, emerged as the Renegades. Unable to keep the name, they adopted the moniker Wire Train and within a few months had a deal on the Bay Area based 415 Records.

415 had already seen considerable success with bands such as Romero Void and Translator. Just as Wire Train was inking its deal with 415, the popular indie label secured a national distribution deal…entire summary

Wish I could download this! This band rocks live just as well as in the studio.

I love the drony background vocals on "I forget it all".

Just saw their reunion show last night at Knitting Factory LA. The sound sucked but the band looked great and seemed truly happy to be back on stage. 16 years...a long hiatus. Welcome back, Wire Train!

Well, I never did know what happened to this band--listened to them in the mid-eighties to early 90s, and they were a great example of the kind of music championed by college radio in the USA--very much my preference in those days. Listening to this show made me do some internet snooping around, and I found this great fan-site that provides a lot of info, past and current: http://www.wiretrain.co.uk/index.htm

Wow -- I used to have a couple their albums. Great find. I agree that they were not unlike early U2.
