Concert Summary

This Widespread Panic performance was captured on May 28, 1995 at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. The road dogs play for over an hour, drawing tracks from their first four albums, as well as unreleased favorites. The sextet opens up with the mid-tempo "Pigeons" from their self-titled sophomore LP. This track is driven by the bluesy, whiskey-soaked vocals of guitarist/vocalist John Bell.

Fans of the classic jam band sound will love their over 15-minute medley beginning with "Little Kin," from their fourth album, Ain't Life Grand. Lead guitarist Michael Houser…entire summary

We need to get some of the more recent shows on here for people that have not had the chance to see them . The evolution of this band is awsome , the addition of Jimmi Herring has taken them to a new level that I did not think was possible .

I was blessed to have seen these guys many times while Michael was alive and tearing it up! Although I LOVE Jimmy and the big sound they get today, it always makes me smile to hear the old shows and remember where I was in my life then......

Lyrics to Pictures of Matchstick Men and Driving Song.
Anyone else ever notice the same melody? These two songs should be a medley.

When I look up to the sky
I see your eyes, a funny kind of yellow
Rush home to bed, I soak my head
I see your face underneath my pillow
I wake next morning, I’m still yawning
I see your face looking through my window
Pictures of matchstick men and you
Images of matchstick men and you
Alls I ever see is them and you
    Windows echo your reflection
When I look in their direction, now
    There’re faces haunting me
Your face just won’t leave me alone
Pictures of matchstick men and you
Images of matchstick men and you
Alls I ever see is them and you
    You’re in the sky
    You’re with the sky
    You make men cry
You are, you’re in the sky
    You’re with the sky
    You make men cry
    Pictures of matchstick men . . .

The leaves seen through my window pane
Remind me that it's time to move my life again
November sun is felt by none
A chilly breeze has blown my thoughts to what's to come
A cup of warm coffee, some vitamin C
A bowl for the cat, a bowl for the dog, a bowl for me
Choose my bluest tape and unlock my car
An honest tune with a lingering lead has taken me this far

On the edge of the porch in the warm evening night
Throwing the bone for the dog I see two passing lights
Well, I wonder where that driver's bound
Is there someone, somewhere, someway out there that I've not found
A touch of smoke ain't what it seems
Dust and sunshine can also make my eyes look mean
But there's a brown cat sleeping through this day's show
Toppin' off the woodpile, breathing slow
