Concert Summary

Next to the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Wet Willie was unquestionably one of the best bands to come out from below the Mason-Dixon line during the dawn of the Southern Rock movement. The band had a country feel to many of their songs, but paid equal respect to the classic Stax-styled soul recordings of the '60s and early '70s. The group, under the skillful guidance of rock impresario Phil Walden and his Capricorn Records label, rode the coattails of the Allman Brothers Band and found a solid home on American FM radio with memorable tracks such "Keep On Smiling."

Go catch a Jimmy Hall show! He sings as good if not better than he did in the 70s, He is a freak of Nature!

New Orleans and Wet Willie..what a combination. The show at the dome was big time. Saw Jimmy Hall at the Jazz Fest this year, the boy can still sing!

How is this? Saw Wet Willie, Charlie Daniels Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, and The Allman Brothers Band at the Super Dome, New Orleans for the first time it was opened, 1976. What a show!

Saw these guys in '71 at Kennedy Stadium in DC. They kicked off a great show, followed by the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead. Will never forget it!

Living in the Panhandle through the 70's I saw Wet Willie in both large and small venues. Great band , vocals and musicianship (Jimmy’s sister was hot )I have wondered out loud for years why Jimmy Hall is not a household name as he is one of the most talented performers I've seen and maybe the greatest blues singer alive. With the crap that passes for music today I long for bands like this...it was like a revival at these shows...

I love this concert! Saw Wet Willie in 1977 in Charleston, WV! Jimmy Hall still sounds great - see him around Nashville and he is Hank Jr's band leader. Keep On Smilin' - Jimmy told me he wrote it in about 20 minutes and is one of my all time favorite songs! Doak

I saw Wet Willie back in '71 when the opened for the Allman Bros. Not too shabby for an opening act. Later saw Marshall Tucker open for the Allman Bros. Another incredible concert!

Wow - Wet Willie memories - although I never did see them live, this does reminded me of '72-'73 when we are coming off the hangover from Duane & Barry leaving us & then here they come - Wet Willie & Lynyrd Skynyrd...time to party!!!!
