thanks for having this! I loved this band back in the day, and it still sounds great to these older ears and my brain can still wrap around it. the layering and textures are amazing. the bonus at the very end is when Miroslav just doesn't want to end the set!

What a great concert. I saw Weather Report later in the 1970s-the Erskine, Pastorius, Zawinul, Shorter, Badrena lineup-but I wish I had seen these guys. To be honest, although there is much to admire in the music of Weather Report I started to lose interest when the overpraised Pastorius joined them.I think Zawinul, fine musician though he was, took them in the wrong direction.

That constant reverb tank rattling is super annoying. Who is using mechanical reverb in this lineup?

That classical sounding piece on track 4 is beautiful! J Zawinul could make me a fan of this music. But I always loved his acoustic offerings anyway!- kh

In a word... Wonderful! Joe Z fans should check out his collaboration with Trilok Gurtu on YT. Do a search for Joe Zawinul,Trilok Gurtu Orient Express.

I saw Weather Report in 1976 (maybe it was 77) in the gym at Delta College. Naturally we got there super early to get the best seats and Zawinul was still doing a sound check. He invited the 4 of us to pull up our metal folding chairs closer to the stage - we literally sat back with our feet resting on the stage and saw a performance of a lifetime. Wayne Shorter, Stanley Clark, etc. WOW!!
