About

Warren Haynes

Warren Haynes was asked to be the second replacement for Duane Allman in the Allman Brothers Band, and play alongside his longtime friend and collaborator, Dickey Betts. He has been in the band since the early 1990s, and has often been found jamming with Betts, Allman, and other ABB members on their various solo projects.

Haynes is legendary for playing often and playing brilliantly. He released his first studio album until 1995. Haynes is a powerful, blue-eyed soul singer, not unlike Gregg Allman. He is also a remarkable guitarist and can often play with the same intensity and passion as his idols: Hendrix, Vaughn, Clapton and the late Duane Allman. With his friends Matt Atbs and Allen Woody, Haynes launched his now well-known Gov't Mule band in 1994. The group is a major concert draw all over the country, and they have released quite a few popular albums in their 14-year run. The Mule's most recentl album By A Thread was released on October 27, 2009. He also cut an album with the Grateful Dead's Phil Lesh, 2002's There and Back Again. He teamed up again with Lesh and, in 2004, Haynes joined the post-Jerry Garcia touring band, The Dead, adding guitar and lead vocals. Sadly, Haynes' longtime musical partner and collaborator Allen Woody died from a heroin overdose in the Summer of 2000, while the group was on tour.
