Originally called the Pidgeons, Vanilla Fudge so name themselves because a girl told them they were "white soul." Their half-speed tempo, Gothic organ, and quasi-raga guitar covers of "Eleanor Rigby," "Ticket to Ride," "People Get Ready" and "Bang Bang" went gold.
