At 24 years of age, Van Morrison had already experienced the sort of career rollercoaster that less robust singers preferred to stretch out over a lifetime. The blue-eyed soul of his early work with Ulster pub-rockers Them had been all but abandoned in favor of darker, more introspective material on his seminal solo recordings;…entire summary

One of the all-time great performers, given over to an occasional binge live performance, this type of splendor occurred every once in awhile. That's why folks sought to see Van so much: his dead-on live work was so splendid. There is just nothing like Too Late to Stop Now, and his countless bootlegs are sometime stellar, and better than the released version! All the material from early Van Morrison is cherished, and we all owe thanks to Bill Graham and Wolfgang for marrying us up to our musical past so feverishly well.
