Concert Summary

When they were at their most popular circa 1974, when this concert was recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, Uriah Heep was consistently selling out large theaters and mid-sized arenas. This show, recorded in San Diego, was captured in one of the band's strongest U.S. markets. Presenting a radio friendly blend of hard rock and British progressive rock, the Heep (as they were called) had become a rock 'n' roll mainstay on FM stations across the U.S. with songs like "Easy Livin'," "Stealin'" and "July…entire summary

I had the honor of seeing Uriah Heep in the mid 70's a few times in Chicago. David Byron and Ken Hensley were the backbone of the band. To bad that lead singer David Byron died later. The band had numerous lead vocalist that just didn't hit home like they did when Byron was at the helm. It just wasnt the same as a few of you mentioned on this page. No question the first 3-4 albums were the best. This San Diego show rocked too.

One of my favorite bands, was lucky enough to see them twice back in the early days. A Uriah Heep show was more like a big party. Was lucky enough to get second row center tickets back in 74 @ Keil Auditorium in StL. Mo. The very best concert (I mean party LOL) I have ever been to......

I became a keyboard/guitar player because of Ken Hensley. I even had long bushy hair, dressed in jeans, a work shirt, and wore three inch platforms like my hero. In high school (the 70's - showing my age), Uriah Heep was my possession. Two weeks ago while exiting Argosy Casino in Indiana, I nearly fainted as Ken Hensley's "Cold Autumn Sunday" played over the intercom. How in the hell did they get that? I never ever even heard this great song on the radio in the 70's. Just proves that Heep at al. still live on.
