Concert Summary

Formed in England in 1969, UFO began as a hard rocking outfit with plenty of emphasis on space-rock and riff-heavy boogie. Their first two albums bore a passing resemblance to early Deep Purple with a healthy dose of the space-metal of Hawkwind mixed in. These early albums found great success in Japan, France and Germany, but met with general indifference in their native country and the United States. A third live album, which was released exclusively in Japan, showed the band to…entire summary

If he was out of tune that's his roadies fault, I know Michael played with a few Flying V's handy. Probably Michael was crouched down jammin' and nobody wanted to interrupt him playing! As a guitar player( and roadie in the 80's) odds are he bumped his guitar. Why all the callous and disrespectful comments guys? I WISH we had bands like UFO out there right now(Porcupine Tree is a favorite now, but can't rank up there,...YET!) instead of this marketed/ corporate rock/Disney shit we're forced to listen to on the radio and stare at when we're pumping gas. The 70's( and in some ways the 90's) were a Renaissance of sorts. Enjoy what you remember. I have great memories of UFO at the Amphitheater( with Paul Chapman in fine form) in Chicago with Saxon opening for them - hard to decide who I liked more at that time.

AAH michael schenker of all of rocks drug/alcohol casualties he has to rate as one of the bigger disappointments.ANy of the bands he was in ,UFO,Scorps or MSG couldve gone all the way if he wasnt out of control i think he has mental illness on top of substance abuse.Friar I cant believe you dont like the UFO official live album its right up there with Thin Lizzy's live & dangerous on my list of underrated concert recordings. He couldve had rhandy rhoads gig but even ozzy was intimidated by mikes mood swings.
There is also a great msg live box set out there for the diehards-i saw ufo open for ozzy on his first 2 tours and they were great despite being on the downward spiral from drugs & less than stellar albums to promote.ALso saw them open for BOC serveral years ago with jason bonham on drums & vinnie moore on guitar & came away less than impressed. This recording? vintage stuff per usual from wolfgang despite mike being out of tune....Oh yeah saw mike acoustic (!?) with Robin Maccauley & he was on top of his game but couldnt understand the point of him not playing plugged in.

i love the early space rock period the best however, phenomenon is such a kick ass record, you just can't ignore it. this is a great recording by a band whose star guitarist was way out of tune and still pulled it off. \m/

God Damn Long Live UFO EARLY RAW STUFF But Great. When Rock & Roll had great guitar and great melody and great excess. I always wanted to see them live still look for concert dates. Not many left that play like this anymore. Auggie
