Concert Summary

To raise awareness of human rights issues and to honor the 25th anniversary of Amnesty International, an impressive roster of musicians banded together in June of 1986. Billed as "A Conspiracy Of Hope," the tour hit six American cities and through press conferences, media events and the actual concerts, the artists directly engaged listeners on the issues of human dignity and human rights, inviting a new generation to take action to free prisoners of conscience throughout the world. PS - I see that rcus's comment was correct, and if the text is fixed in that way too, then both her/his comment and my comments can be deleted to make room for some folks to have their say that's more permanently worthwhile.

Hey, this comment doesn't have to stay posted if the text is fixed, but I gotta say:
regarding "Sun City," she spells her name "Hendryx" and he spells his name "Van Zandt" ! (Van Zant is a very different guy.) Plus, a lot more than the named people are onstage singing lines in turn ... just look at the video of that performance that WV featured in its weekly e-mail just a couple of weeks ago. It's not only the record that featured a wide range of great folks ... As to the idea that it's a "somewhat disjointed" delivery, well, that's true. But more important is that the spirit of the song was put out there in full! Even a polished performance can lack that, and - given the topic, the fired-up crowd and the activist setting - a shiny but flat showing would have been a downer, while I consider the earnest excitement a fitting triumph and finale to the evening! It's a thrill on the video and I'm glad to have the audio recording now. Thanks.

On Jimmy Hoffa's grave Bono sing's a tribute to Jesus&Martin and Jimmy and Johnny. Go figure. I saw U2@ the Thomas and Mack in Vegas I believe it was March '86 the last concert I ever attended. That is another story.
