Concert Summary

From their earliest days in sweaty rock rooms of Toronto during the summer of 1975, the trio of singer/bassist Mike Levine, singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, and drummer/singer Gil Moore always seemed to be in control. By 1977, Triumph was doing dates throughout its native Canada and the US, and within three years the band hit gold as one of RCA (and later MCA) Record's biggest acts, powered by a staple of FM hits that included "Lay It On The Line," "Fight The Good Fight," "Hold On," and "Allied Forces." With the only exception of Rush, there was no bigger act out of Canada in the late 1970s…entire summary

The Pasadena Rose Bowl lineup on July 2 (one week earlier) was Blue Oyster Cult/Aldo Nova/Triumph/Journey. Hope that helps. By the way, Triumph was great!

I believe ZZtop did headline this show. I attended so many of these rock superbowls that which acts played which ones has become blurred. But I know ZZtop did not headline the Ozzy/Foreigner show. I think this was the ZZtop show

I saw Rik Emmittplay a show at a converted pool hall in the mid 90's where he was devoting himself to mainly instrumental compositions. I was completely blown away!!!! Like most people, I wanted to hear Triumph songs; which were great! But, I was astounded by his incredible musicianship. This guy can truly play.....what a stud! Listening to this show I am reminded how truly great Triumph was. Rush gets all the cred for being the musical stud's of the genre. But, check out what this trio was doing back in the day without the benefit of today's technology! WOW!!!

Music... Triumph... What do you think? I grew up on Triumph, thankfully, thank god for the good word, the people who are not ashamed of telling the truth. The fact that Triumph has a good story to tell in ALL of their songs has kept me sane all these years!
