From their earliest days in sweaty rock rooms of Toronto during the summer of 1975 through the band's demise in the late-'80s, the trio of singer/bassist Mike Levine, singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, and drummer/singer Gil Moore always had a handle on their artistic output and a solid sense of what the rock 'n' roll constituency was looking for at the time. By 1977, Triumph was doing dates throughout their native Canada and the US, and within three years the band hit gold as one of RCA (and later MCA) Record's biggest acts, powered by a staple of FM hits that included "Lay It On The Line,"…entire summary

    My thoughts per instrument: Singing: Rik had tone, but no vibrato; they needed a singer. Drums: I always felt they needed a "tighter" drummer, just like Tesla. Guitar: Yeah, Rik has got it! Bass: Good enough, not great.

    anonymous (june 17th) you really are a simpleton arent you? if you like all the "party, party party" stuff, thats your prerogative, but 99.999% of triumph fans much prefer rik's songs any day. what, were you, like, 11 when this came out?

    The music starved fans of Honolulu treted themn like gods.. never having had Rush over for a show, Triumph was like Rush light. Rush did eventually get over to the islands in '84..

    Killer guitar work in Light show though... it's the vocals at the start that bring out thoughts of a small stonehenge dropping from the ceiling.

    Saw this concert at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu aug 15, 1981.. Stereo sound.. the Blinding Light show was the highlight.

    saw them two weeks after this at the santa monica civic, still had not incorporated magic power into the set. great show, i was the only sober of 4 that night so my memories are still vivid.

    you praise rik emmit but the drummer sings all of their kick ass songs. rik sings all the poser songs because he is a premadonna.
