Concert Summary

In his 40-plus-year career in the music industry, success has always seemed to attach itself to Steve Winwood. From the time he played organ and sang lead, at age 15, on such hits as "Gimme Some Lovin'" and "I'm A Man" for the Spencer Davis Group in 1965; up through four different incarnations of Traffic; to a now-classic LP made with Winwood/Clapton/Baker/Gretch supergroup of Blind Faith in 1969; and finally on a long string of successful platinum solo albums that included…entire summary

Saw this tour in NYC, Academy of music, Late show. After Jon Martyn and Free, Traffic came on after 1am. 4 o'clock in the morning during 'gimme some loving' jam Winwood brings out Dave Mason to play. We got out of there at 6:00am. Best show I've seen, and I've seen a ton at the Academy. Ticket? 6.50, show? Priceless

This was a GREAT show, FREE touring with the" Heartbreaker" album, then Traffic with" Shoot-Out",what more could 4 stoners from Campbell, Ca. want???? Oh-yeah, the tapes & tapedeck, that S.F.'s in-bred criminal element, took from every car that had one, parked on Post St., from Winterland, across Geary, past the city park, almost all the way to McAllister.. Just where were the police, when some 35-50 cars had their windows broken-out, & contents looted???? We left a pitbull in the car, the following year, for the "When the Eagle Flies" tour, but this show from 73, was Traffic at their best, I'll never forget it, that's for sure!!!!

I saw them 2 nights in a row in Boston, {Music Hall} I think it was 71 or 2 the second night Steve pulled out this blue Fender Strat and poured out his heart in a 10 min guitar solo that ended up with him knelling on the stage.. Awesome time in Boston for shows that year, Nothing since has come close..
    Sean in Roslindale
