Concert Summary

Little in this life is certain, but three things are guaranteed - death, taxes and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Like Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen before him, Tom Petty is of that rare breed that manages to always make kick ass rock 'n' roll on their own terms while still selling millions of records. Though neither as famously populist as Bruce, nor as…entire summary

Dopeburger - belated thanks for your informative reply. Listening to the gig again and, as I've suspected for the past 32 years, this is the number 1 gig of my life. Many others have come very close but this was it! Shame I can't get it onto an ipod or CD so that I can really blast it out but wonderful to be able to access it through the vault.

love this group back in the day

@baldybates the tapes in the King Biscuit archive aren't always recordings of the complete show. many times they'd cut a few songs out for their broadcasts and what remains for Wolfgang's is based on the decisions they made back then.
As far as iPods/CDs, we don't have downloading rights for this show. if you have an iTouch or iPhone, you can stream it on our iPhone app though.
Thanks for writing - i'm jealous you got to see this live but glad they're still going strong.

My husband and I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers this past August (2010) in Toronto and we can honestly say, it was one of THE BEST concerts we have been to in 40 years! Tom Petty is amazingly talented and age has not diminished his style in ANY way. Awesome! :-D

See previous comment. One song that does appear to be missing that I distinctly recall being played is Louisiana Rain. Any reason, Wolfgang, why that song isn't here? Also, you computer wizards out there, any way of getting this gig on to a CD or an ipod?
