  • TheJimbo Sunday, March 25, 2012 9:45 pm The amps! The volume! The energy! OMG! I saw them in 1976 in Oakland with the Dead! When the Who came out, me and my buddies went up to the very top of Oakland Stadium...The Who were so gosh darned loud, we could hear them perfectly! Whoa!
  • anonymous2235275 Saturday, March 24, 2012 7:44 am yesterday I saw the Roger Daltrey Tommy's concert. The kid is still alright!!

  • looxie Thursday, January 19, 2012 1:31 pm To Whom it may concern: It just doesn't get much better than this!!
  • Anonymous Tuesday, January 17, 2012 7:50 pm This is staggering. I started listening to the Who as a kid--my siblings albums spinning constantly around, mesmerized by the sheer sonic power and testosterone that came out of the speakers.....but to finally see them on video at the peak of their powers like this is.....well, f*in brilliant. Cheers everyone and long live The Who!
  • Anonymous Monday, January 02, 2012 1:41 pm Folks...I was there. I was 13 at the time and already a Who fan. The lineup was Its a Beautiful Day (think White bird), Jethro Tull and The Who. Powerful, amazing concert in one of the most acoustically perfect and beautiful venues on the planet (Boston Pops summer stage). We could feel the music and the power that drove it. Long live rock!
  • Benabz Monday, January 02, 2012 3:36 am There is no question that for me, the best form of art, entertainment, music - whatever - is The Who in 1970. Tanglewood, Hull, IOW and of course Leeds is enough evidence. I turn 40 next month and have adored them since I first heard the glorious sound aged 12. There is nothing better than this and The Who will live forever.
  • crey Friday, November 04, 2011 6:52 pm Amazing Journey/Sparks being my most favorite Who songs (especially Live), and at this show Keith forgets to come in at the first of the song!!! HAHAHA Classic!!
  • Anonymous Saturday, September 24, 2011 6:11 am I saw them a month before at the Metropolitan Opera House. It was the first rock concert ever produced there and it was astonishing. First a bunch of photographers came out and took pictures of the Hippie audience. Then Pete and the boys warmed up by playing The Live at Leeds set...and THEN they played Tommy. I remember getting tickets via a lottery that was held down at the Fillmore. By concert's end I was stone cold deaf: I mean I could not hear a thing. Can totally understand what happened to Pete's hearing. I saw tons of concerts in the day ---hey they used to be $6.00 a ticket and up. Wings...CSNY...Simon and Garfunkel at Carnegie Hall and on and on---but no one had the sheer velocity and testosterone of The Who. This was music for the album generation aided and fueled by massive amounts of recreational drugs. It was all a blissful retreat from the War. The seventies went on to become a violent, confusing, assassination driven time underscored by way too much drugs and debauchery. It was too much of a good thing. But at least we still had our music. Still to come was James Taylor and other soothing acts to counterbalance the turbulence. This concert that you are watching represents the end of an era----just one summer past Woodstock and a summer too close to Altamont. We were stardust....we were golden.
  • Anonymous Wednesday, September 21, 2011 5:58 pm Young Man Blues! The Who at the top of their game. Great to see and hear Keith driving the show.
  • Artie the bassist Wednesday, September 14, 2011 11:28 pm Saw them 7 months before this, Holy Cross field house, Worcester, MA. Was the best rock show I ever saw, and I have seen a lot of them. Note"Unless your playback system is 5,000 watts, and you have very large speakers, you cannot imagine how loud they were in that period, and how visceral, how exciting. Keith Moon burned brightly and strong, though burn up he did..
  • MOORS13 Tuesday, August 23, 2011 5:53 pm Happy birthday...keith moom....the mad man on drums...he be65 to day
  • robbo4 Thursday, August 18, 2011 10:12 am The best player for player outfit in the history of rock music! This is The Who at it's strongest and best. No one touched them in those days. The proof is well documented on both film and record. 'Live at Leeds' is on a par with The Stones 'Get Yer Ya Ya's Out' for me, and I've always listed 'Ya Ya's' as my favorite live album. The Beatles, Stones, The Who, Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Kinks, Yardbirds, Small Faces, The Allman Brothers, The Dead, Deep Purple....those were indeed magical times that have and will never be surpassed. Thank you Wolfgang's Vault for providing proof time and again of this sad, but happy fact...
  • ALBEE Saturday, August 13, 2011 1:39 pm This is the real Who, in form at their peak,if you love the Who at this stage in their development you can get THE WHO Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970. it was shot at 2am on the 30th of August 1970. All the songs sung here are on the DVD. Put the DVD on nice and loud and you have got the WHO at their best, I promise you. Enjoy.
  • nicolor Thursday, August 11, 2011 10:03 am The mods at their best!! Does anybody Know if the rest of the concert footage actually exists.Has anybody seen it? Nicolour
  • Anonymous Saturday, August 06, 2011 11:21 pm Please link Amazing Journey and Sparks so that it is one continuous video--as it is one continuous musical work (hard to call it merely a song).
  • Anonymous Monday, August 01, 2011 8:10 pm This is Amazing..It just reaffirms how much music stinks today..Poor kids of today..They have been cheated..Forced to listen to Mindless, Brainless,Emotionless crap played by computers while talentless fools scream into a microphone over the whole messs!! God Bless Real Rock N Roll...Thank You; Pete,Keith,John & Roger...Soulsurvivor
  • Anonymous Monday, August 01, 2011 8:03 pm Where is the rest of this Amazing show? Please Post the whole show. Soulsurvivor
  • dhughes53 Saturday, July 23, 2011 9:07 am Glad to finally see more of this show in good quality, but where is the rest of it? The Who released the first three song's and Bill's intro on the 30 Years of Maximum R & B DVD, the rest is available in poor quality boots. I first saw the Who 5 days earlier at Freedom Palace in Kansas City and was blown away despite the PA problems and the intense heat in the room. Must have been 110' or more. This really brings me back to that show and would pay big $$$ for a DVD of the whole performace. Sort out the rights, pay the band it's due and let the fans see it before it's too late. Until then, thanks for streaming this here.
  • Kynyrd Thursday, July 21, 2011 5:17 pm Moon stole the show but they all ripped it up IMO Those Hiwatts sure sound good.
  • Dave_1957 Thursday, July 21, 2011 4:55 pm Oh man, I was 13 back then & I thank my brother Keith for turning me onto the Who. Also, the Kinks too.
  • Dave_1957 Thursday, July 21, 2011 4:50 pm Moon the Loon is amazing, Pete really doing it to it!
  • Billiam Thursday, July 21, 2011 9:42 am In Young Man's Blues, if you hopefully have a subwoofer on your computer system, pay attention to The Ox's bass lines. Amazing, simply amazing.
  • Billiam Thursday, July 21, 2011 9:39 am In Keith's "monologue" it is clear that he is not too f'ed up for this show. And look how good his playing is!
  • Billiam Thursday, July 21, 2011 9:36 am My two cents on Pete. He is not Jeff Beck, Hendrix, Van Halen, or Guy, but he gets more out of chords than anyone else I have seen. I put him in my top ten because of that and pioneering the energy on-stage that paved the way for punk and the like. Plus, he is an outstanding songwriter. This was one hell of a group folks.
  • Anonymous Thursday, July 21, 2011 9:13 am Was a senior in High School in nearby upstate NY. I was about 15 rows back in a cloud of smoke. Can't be certain but I believe Jethro Tull was also on the bill. Special evening!
  • time dancer Thursday, July 21, 2011 9:01 am Who wrote the book of love?
  • Anonymous Thursday, July 21, 2011 8:29 am fabulous....wish i were there.
  • Anonymous Thursday, July 21, 2011 4:50 am Brilliant!! 2 best live bands out of the UK at that time were the Who and Humble Pie.
  • Jimangiesmokie Thursday, July 21, 2011 3:35 am Incredible! This is the era of the Who I wish I could've seen. I have this entire show on bootleg, so nice to see a crystal-clear (well, for 1970) version. I love how Pete compliments Tanglewood and Jethro Tull and says so casually how they were there just a year earlier with Jefferson Airplane. We should all give thanks to Joshua Light Show too for convincing Bill for allowing their Joshua Television division to videotape this and other Fillmore shows. What a show! Man, I was born too late! SOB!
  • Thalia Tuesday, July 12, 2011 8:35 am flashback!
  • Hay Barry Monday, June 27, 2011 12:35 pm The naked true behind this great rock project!
  • The Vicar Man Monday, June 27, 2011 12:32 pm 40 years later and I still can't figure out where Pete was going with the high water coveralls, but by god man could these guys tear it up!
  • Anonymous Monday, June 27, 2011 10:02 am One of the greatest live acts ever. Saw them in a high school gym(1967), Cobo Arena (1970) and then in a stadium (1982).
  • ruthbuilt Wednesday, June 15, 2011 12:55 pm whoever stole those particular blood splattered tambourines from my house? burn in hell!
  • ruthbuilt Wednesday, June 15, 2011 12:50 pm hands down, the best birthday party of all time. nothing has ever lived up to that night and every birthday since, has sucked by comparison.
  • Wuss81 Saturday, June 04, 2011 10:09 am Anyone questioning Townshend axe skill ? Please listen to ANY live version of Amazing Journey/sparks etc. from 1969 to 1975. It'll changer yer thoughts.......
  • Anonymous Monday, May 23, 2011 9:23 pm POR FAVOR!!! ESTE SHOW COMPLETO!!! the entire show please!!! (no se como se dice en ingles)
  • jzuniga030 Saturday, May 14, 2011 3:15 pm BuenA CANCION
  • Stig O'Tracy Thursday, May 12, 2011 10:15 am Keith and John just rip it up. Townsend's average guitar skills get a total free pass in front of those two, but his songwriting and energy is what Pete was all about. Roger holds down lead singer like 50 tons of concrete. Solid.
  • Anonymous Monday, May 09, 2011 5:35 pm Waited 41 years to see this. Saw The Who at Anaheim Stadium on June 14, 1970 when they headlined a day show; traded my last roll of Tri-X for a backstage pass and spent the last hour stage left and 10 feet from Pete, taking pictures. Pretty amazing experience for a 16 year old kid. They played unbelievably that afternoon and were all at the height of their musical powers. A year and a half later, finally got a chance to meet them all; show them my photos; and then shoot three more shows from the stage. Thanks Pete for letting the San Diego promoter know, "He's shooting for me!" Greatest live band ever.
  • chaimster Monday, May 09, 2011 10:11 am Remarkable is the only word to aptly describe this. A treasure of treasures for fans of the Who. There are very few things that make me happy the way these videos do.
  • bigbig Friday, May 06, 2011 8:49 am i know....he was a star that just burned out.
  • Chris71 Wednesday, May 04, 2011 1:52 pm It's such a tragic contrast Keith's playing here and the 77 Kilburn show. The man aged 20+ years in only 7 and completely lost his chops, focus and drive.
  • velaphi Wednesday, May 04, 2011 1:06 pm I was there, in about the 5th row. It's a Beautiful Day opened, followed by Jethro Tull and then The Who -- who had said they weren't going to do "Tommy." After doing the whole thing, Townshend announced that it was the best they'd sounded on the tour -- so would we mind if they kept playing? Which they did, for about another half hour. Moon that night gave what's probably still the single best instrumental performance I've seen.
  • Chris71 Tuesday, May 03, 2011 11:26 pm Keith was amazing, and he didn't even hit the drums THAT hard.
  • bigbig Tuesday, May 03, 2011 1:39 pm moonie is simply the best!...check him out on sparks!
  • educ8inokc Monday, May 02, 2011 1:43 pm Appears to be a corrupt encode of the 2000k stream, 900k plays fine.
  • dennisy23 Sunday, May 01, 2011 7:17 pm Just awe-inspiring.Moon's drumming,Ox's Hendrix-bass,Townsend's prophesying the Internet, virtual reality 40 years before their advent.(check out"Lifehouse").Guitargod was Townsend...the 'OO were the best band on the planet during this period. Thanks,Daltrey that you chose the"OO over fighting/whupping Moon. More explosive, more dangerous and closer to the human heart than most any other. Thanks,DooDah Man for turning me on to this website and thanks Wolfgang's Vault. You've done the world a great service.I did not get a chance to see Moon during this period,(or any other),thank God for viddys like these. Zak Starkey is the only drummer who comes within a mile of Moonie, which is not a surprise as Moonie taught Ringo's son the drums.
  • Anonymous Sunday, May 01, 2011 2:54 pm One fantastic show. Tull was great, then the who came out & did one of the best sets I've ever seen them do. Sat in the 11th row the tickets cost $7.50. God bless Bill Graham for all he did for Rock. Glad I grew up during this time in NYC
  • WillisT Sunday, May 01, 2011 10:41 am I still to this was so fortunate to see Moon & co. as the first ever Rock act at the new Pontiac Silverdome in 1976,one of the best show's I've ever seen, along with Zep in "73" at Cobo and Sabbath at Cobo promoting Master of Reality, opening act's were Gentle giant and I think Michle Quarto!
  • wholigan1 Sunday, May 01, 2011 10:02 am Wow!!!,...best live band ever. What a treat, certainly brings back concert experiences of the early 70's, especially London and Hammersmith.
  • jtreadwell Sunday, May 01, 2011 6:13 am This version of Sparks is without a doubt the best showcase of Keith's unique and incredible drumming that I have ever seen. Watch it again. . . what a privilege.
  • dontsmokecigs Saturday, April 30, 2011 10:17 pm so glad you started with The Who!!!!
  • Matt Lundberg Saturday, April 30, 2011 7:39 am If you're having trouble playing this, try two things. First, make sure Flash on your PC is up to date. If that doesn't work, click on Contact Us at the bottom of this page and tell us more about your computer. Cheers!
  • SpaceCadetCarl Saturday, April 30, 2011 5:23 am Fantastic! The Who captured on color videotape during Pete's 69' to 71' "white boiler suit" period. I heard the master videotape exists up to where they perform "Christmas". Supposedly the rest of the show is only availiable on a color kinescope transfer. But...... what an awesome show!
  • Kitangel Saturday, April 30, 2011 3:03 am Thank you. Interesting choice of order to the tracks put up. Was this as played? Seems perhaps not.....
  • ad210 Friday, April 29, 2011 3:40 pm Thank God for The Who
  • sporkinum Friday, April 29, 2011 3:20 pm I tried yesterday (Thursday) and it didn't work. Same thing today. I get a message in the window that says Video will start in NaN seconds. Tried it both Firefox and IE.

  • SpaceCadetCarl Friday, April 29, 2011 7:36 am Fantastic! The Who captured on color videotape during Pete's 69' to 71' "white boiler suit" period. I heard the master videotape exists up to where they perform "Christmas". Supposedly the rest of the show is only availiable on a color kinescope transfer. But...... what an awesome show!
  • Anonymous Friday, April 29, 2011 6:34 am Bringing back a great memory - this was the first concert I ever attended. And not only Tull but still hoping that someday the set of It's A Beautiful Day will show up also - they opened all the festivities that evening.
  • Anonymous Friday, April 29, 2011 4:29 am Fantastic! When can we download the entire concert, along with Jethro Tull as the opening band? That would be the ultimate Who video experience!
