Concert Summary

Evolving from Pete Townshend's idea for a musical autobiography of The Who, the second of the group's two full-scale rock operas, Quadrophenia eventually developed into a social, musical and psychological exploration of the mid-1960s mod scene in England. Written from the perspective of a British teenager, Jimmy, the band member's role in the storyline became symbolic via Jimmy's four personalities. Like much of Townshend's work, Quadropheniaentire summary

Re: the comment of seeing The Who after Moon died was not really seeing The Who....I recall a show where Pete basically said, "...don't let anyone fool you, it's not what it was....BUT WE STILL CALL IT THE F'IN WHO!!!!" amen.

The first time I saw The Who was at the Cap Center. They blew me away. Sorry to hear that the Cap Center is gone, but never forgotten.

Anyone who only saw The Who AFTER Moon died, in reality, did not see "The Who." I can still "feel" his drums from shows that I saw 35 years ago. Their live performances were a 2-3 hour assault on your senses. Saw them numerous times in Cincy, starting before Tommy.

Ok, seen the Who many times. Starting after in '79 when Moon died. But some of the tours later, like the 25th Annerversay with playing Tommy in it's entirety. '96 playing Quad in it's entirety, were among the many great shows I have seen and the Who performed. Curse my parents for not having me at leaty 5 years earlier! Saw a great tribute band called Who's next at BB Kings in NYC a few years back got the whole Quad album fromn beg to end, plus many more tunes. If you closed your eyes you were in a timewarp.

Yes I remenber, the Cap Centre had just open -saw the Allman Brothers on the 4th and two nights later The Who. Agree with Rikkimax, Skynerd blew the place way with Free Bird. Didn't think I had anything left for The Who,but when they came on...enough said.I remember the place had a "new" video sceen which we had'nt seen at other places.

Why is the WHO the Greatest Rock band of all time...... The quality of the Songs. The Musicians, the Body of work, Pete Townsend's songwriting, John Entwistle's Bass playing was 2ed to Nobody, Keith Moon's drumming was incredible, never equaled by anybody..... Combined with lead vocals by Roger Daltrey , you can argue the WHO was the first PUNK ROCK band. When you try to compare Quadrophinia with ANY album from the Rock era, the only other album that even comes close in originality and depth is "TOMMY". Then maybe "Sergeant Pepper's LHCB"@ the Beatles. Ok maybe the " the Yellow Submarine" or "The Magical Mystery Tour" But thats about it......... Then there is everybody else..........
