The Stone Roses

The Stone Roses bloomed in Manchester, England in the late 1980s where their music was part of a budding "Madchester" rave scene that fused ecstasy-driven dance beats with traces of psychedelic folk. The group's third single, "Elephant Stone," from their eponymous debut album, launched the Roses' craze-into-motion, but it took five long years for the Stone Roses to release a followup because of legal troubles with record label Silvertone. A sophomore album, The Second Coming, was released in '94 on Geffen Records but was unable to generate the profitable buzz of the single dropping debut release. The Stone Roses soon wilted and disbanded in '96.
