Bob Dylan's legendary vagabond musician tour, documented on film in 1975, the Rolling Thunder Revue, was a movable musical feast designed to celebrate a variety of music styles with a revolving cast of superstar artists and top-quality backup players. Joining Dylan were respected artists like Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, T-Bone Burnett, Mick Ronson, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Bob Neuwirth and many more. From the end of October, 1975 to May '76, the revue played 57 dates in the US and Canada, with the majority of their shows played on the East Coast. Other than his controversial 1966 tour, when he first went electric, Dylan's legendary Revue is probably the most documented and highly respected of his career. It has been rumored that Dylan the idea for 1975's Rolling Thunder Revue from attending the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. The idea of touring with a roving troupe of friends and musicians was incredibly appealing to him. Also, since the setlist was in a constant state of flux, it was an extremely technically challenging tour, which brought out the best in these world-class musicians.
