Concert Summary

What is featured on this recording is about half of what the Stones played that night in Memphis. Classics like "All Down The Line," "Brown Sugar," "Love In Vain," and Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen" were cut to allow the show to fit the time restrictions of the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio broadcast. In the meantime, this is what we have to groove on, and it ain't bad. Opening with a raunchy and gritty version of "Let It Rock," the Stones prove at this show (and on this entire tour) why they remain among the most…entire summary

I was in Chicago in 78 and it ROCKED! Stones were awesome. That whole weekend was the wildest time I ever had. I had a weekend pass from Camp Lejeune and met up with some friends. Chaos ensued!!

Wow, what a blast from the past. I listened to this on the radio and held a cassette tape recorder to catch the magic. Now that technology is light-years better I have really enjoyed this whole event- Let it Rock was never played better. The original concert did have a schmaltzy version of 'Hound Dog' in honor of the 'King' as the Stones were playing in Memphis for the first time since Elvis died on the crapper.

20 years old when the Rolling Stones were touring the U.S. of A. in 1978. I never got my mind off the 3/4 piece power rock bands (Mountain, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath w/ozzie, Dave Mason, Steppenwolf, Grand Funk, Aerosmith, Joe Walsh/Barnstorm) that blew thru Columbus Ohio back in the day to see the Stones. I still have a chance as The Strolling Bones will be playing in wheelchairs, using canes, lots of miracle drugs and I may get a chance to see them. Until then I have to be content with Get Your Ya's Ya's Out.

I have the bootleg LP of this. A 2 album set that also included a very rare version of "Hound Dog" as a tribute to "You know so much good in music has come out of this town" to Elvis. Midnight Rambler was dubbed from an earlier live broadcast and wasnt played during the 1978 tour. This isnt the same as "Garden State 78" or several other names like "Out on Bail". Some of this concert like "Whip Comes Down" are the same as the other concert from Detroit just has a different mix. Also available on "Sucking in the 70's"

I had a tape of the 90 minute version mentioned above. I miss "Midnight Rambler" most; it was an amazing version.
