Concert Summary

There is no denying the impact of a great Stones show, as demonstrated by this two-hour concert at Hampton Coliseum. After a warm introduction, The Rolling Stones take the stage for what was to be one of the final shows on the band's 1981 Tattoo You tour, and one of six of those tour dates taped for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Opening with their classic 1966 single, "Under My Thumb" then blasting into "When the Whip Comes Down," followed by the always controversial "Let's Spend the Night Together," the group…entire summary

I too watched this show on "ancient" pay per view (one of the first) "ON TV"! It was simulcast around the country on FM stations, because ON TV and TV had NO STEREO capability then! LOL One of THE best concerts EVER! I videotaped the show VHS and audiotaped the simulcast from KMET LA, CA "94.7 KMET Tweedle Dee" lol... KMEt went off the air YEARS ago :-( Syncing up (and keeping it there) the VHS tape (POOR AUDIO) and the cassette soundtrack proved almost impossible, but still watched this one dozens of times over the years! i was SURE after this one that either Keith Richards or Ron Woods would surely be dead within months, because they both looked like walking dead men! YIKES!!!! Partying HARD eben right before the show, as shown on the behind the scenes shots, while George Thorogood was on stage, opening! I sure wish the Stomes and whoever owns the original TV tapes would put out oa DVD of this one... history man, especially when Keith wacks the guy with his giutar who was running across the stage towards Mick during the encore! LOLOL Thanks for streaming this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keith and Woody are weaving their leads together like nobodies done before or since. Keith was definately having an "ON" night, as did Woody. Plus, when it's your birthday and you know you're gonna have a great time after the show. Keith, just could not help but cut loose on this night. Happy Birthday to Keith, and may he have many, many, more!!! Oh yeah, and the "Beast of Burden" number is an all time weaver of song!!! Let's have other Tour my friend's, we're all waitin!! Aloha, Keoni Cameron

I didn't even know this site existed until I was thinking back to old shows on FM radio I heard growing up. The King Biscuit Flower Hour was heard on my radio I don't even know how many times. This show I saw in Dallas at the old Cotton Bowl with Fabulous Tbirds and ZZ Top opening for them, My 17th birthday present , too bad I was so drunk I don't remember it in technicolor.20 people from the front of stage, I was deaf for the next 3 weeks.I don't even remember how I got home. However what I do remember was it was one of the best shows I had been to and have been to.

Went to this show when I was 15. I remember the ticket was $15.50, and that was EXPENSIVE for 1981! The show was an all day thing...waiting in line, running to the doors and then sprinting to get as close to the stage as we could. Years later after finding out that the show was filmed, recorded and broadcasted I found some great bootlegs. Above, Larshar says it was assigned seating...It was definately general admission and a basic rotating stage with the Stones, Ian and Mac, Bobby & Ernie. And some cheap lifts that lifted them above the crowd a few times. There are some great DVD's of the show out there. My favorite era of the Stones here...A great set...Just great raw rock w/ no flare.

This is the same concert where the crazed fan ran onstage during (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction and Keith Richards stopped him in his tracks with his guitar.
