Concert Summary

The Rascals were essentially just a backing band for vocalist/keyboardist Felix Cavaliere by the time this recording was made at the Fillmore West in May 1971. Although original drummer Dino Danelli remained, both guitarist Gene Cornish and vocalist Eddie Bragati were gone by the time A Peaceful World was cut, the album this tour was promoting.

After making some of the best American blue-eyed soul records of the 1960s, including "I Ain't…entire summary

Thanls for the info Rascaltown - never thought Island of real sounded like Buzz's composition ( great rhythm guitar part though and lovely lead phrases from Buzz ) so had always been a bit puzzled . Have you followed Buzz's wonderful music since those days I wonder ... one of the GREAT players .. and many like Mike Landau and Robben Ford would second that emotion . I dont hear him at all on this show .. in spite of what Bobby Matos says above ... memories were not always razor sharp in those days for many .. nudge nudge know what I mean ... nods as good as a wnk to a blind horse ( Monty Python reference ) !

Just listened to this concert again from the Fillmore West. This is only half of the Rascals along with some great side men/ladies and it rocked. I wish Felix would take the song "Love Letter" from this show and release as a single. It will have all the Generations X's dancing in the streets and aisles and would let the world know that the Rascals Still Rock! Bobby A from Jersey

And I thought I was the biggest Rascal fan! Great stuff here and Treasure was good too. I saw them in Lunenburg, MA during their brief existence. Very good show. Don't know if you guys know this but if you search Eddie Brigati at YouTube, there is a couple of recent clips of him performing summer '08. I wish they could all get together again. Can't believe these grudges last 40 years! They wrote and sang so well at the time. I've seen Felix a few times and have all his lps but they don't capture him that well I don't think. He needs to do a real R&B disc that will emphasize his talents with the right producer. I know he has one out now with Steve Cropper and it's not bad but it's not enough of the Felix sound.

RascalTown Robert-is right on the money with his info! Only the original Rascal's-Felix-Eddie-Gene and of course, The Great Dino Danelli made music that shaped the 60's and had all of us dancing in the aisles. The time is NOW for all of us Rascal Fans to join forces and get these legends back together! Bobby A from Bloomfield, NJ-aka Rascal Eddie!

you are right. it is Link Chamberlain--Buzz played on the Island of Real lp---also super. I'm a Rascals nut and aficianado--only the 4 originals---Danelli,cornish,brigati and Cavaliere had the real magic. And I think Pops Popwell only appeared on the Island of Real also. But DO listen to the world's greatest drummer--Dino Danelli and of course the world's greatest blue-eyed soul voice of all time--Felix Cavaliere--if only they could get it back together now. Politics, greed, jealousy, egos,$, helped destroy the world's greatest band. Did you ever catch the original 4 LIVE---unreal!!!!!!!!!!!You get my point---Hail to the Rascals---from Rascaltown Robert in Philly PS--Buzz did not write "island of Real"--it is a misprint--spoketo Felix about it at length. Trust me on that one OK. We need Gene,Eddie,FC and DD back together---keep on Groovin as they did into the R&R hall of fame in 5/97. om shanthi--rascaltown robert

That doesnt sound like Buzzy Feiten to my ears & I dont think its Pops Popwell either . I think this show was just maybe a matter of weeks before they joined .. or maybe Buzz was committed elsewhere at the time of this show ( Stevie Wonder & Wonderlove ? ) . Of course he played on Peaceful World ( including bass on some tracks ) and the subsequent Island of Real ( Buzz wrote the title tune and the phenomenal rhythm guitar masterpiece Junglewalk ) . I think this is Link Chamberlain playing guitar ... not remotely like Buzz ... you know if its him .. believe me
