  • Doccus Thursday, April 19, 2012 3:39 am I just NOW got the latest vault email, which had this tune (Sedated) as it's latest..... you don't know how fast I clicked it ;-) Wudda classic tune.. and if anyone ever doubted their sense of humor, I'm sure this would put it to rest..assuming you *get* it, and by some of the comments already posted i see not everybody does .-(
  • MickeyAgaragus Wednesday, February 29, 2012 12:53 pm Awesome! Even just "Pinhead" is great. Why did they have to rerecord the vocals on "It's Alive"?
  • Kona Mark Wednesday, February 29, 2012 10:04 am Punk was already dead in 1978. I saw the Ramones in September 1976 at the Childe Harold in DC. Played a 35 minute set. The owner made them play a second set, which was the same as the first. They only had so much material. Great show, though. Punk in it's heyday.

  • monkeymeat Wednesday, February 29, 2012 5:33 am The Ramones are pure joy. I miss them so much.
  • Rocko1 Tuesday, December 20, 2011 3:16 pm that tired ass sneering down your nose view of punk is just so limiting. oh wait, let's put in a 20 minute completely self-absorbed bow solo. get real - there are some gems in here (altho I think the NYC Palladium show is much better sound and performance than this.)
  • Scr1bble5 Wednesday, October 05, 2011 3:44 pm Ramones fucking RULE ! :)
  • hwy61rv Thursday, September 08, 2011 1:01 pm This clip really brings me back. I had just spent a month with the Brudders, I directed them in RnRHS. I also worked at the Fillmore East so I saw all the classic rock bands in their prime. The Who, Zeppelin, The Dead, Allman's, BB King, etc. The Ramones to me are among the all time greats, true auteurs with a unique vision. They have heard the call & gave their lives o Rock. Rocket to Russia is one of the greatest rock n roll LPs ever!!!!
  • Self Anointed Musicologist Sunday, September 04, 2011 10:14 pm Just finished show from midnight to one am - the way it was with great bands like the Ramones. On at 11 or 12 and off an hour later. I just wish I could have seen them then. High school would've been very different. Did get to see them a couple times though and never disappointed!!! As for the idiot a few reviews back...You might want to run spellcheck before posting . Wait, I forgot you're a musc lover...
  • Avon Monday, August 29, 2011 6:20 pm I love love love this stuff! I know what people are saying who think it sounds ugly and simple and stupid. Compared to the exquisite virtuosity of The Who (my favorite band), the Ramones struck me as noisy and mindless when I first heard them in 1978. But I've seen both The Who and The Ramones in concert several times (the Who concerts were mostly with Keith) and I think both are magnificent - powerful, fresh, and even nuanced. And this video, despite its bad mix and weak sound, is fantastic - for example, it captures Dee Dee's spastic leaps at unexpected moments perfectly, and Joey's vocal tweaks on Blitzkreig Bop and especially I Don't Want You are mind-blowing when you're used to the record. 80s power-pop and grunge, and the biggest sounds of the 90s, never could have happened without the few great early punkers like the Ramones. I wonder if we'd all be listening to Muzak by now. I don't care if you don't like the Ramones; after all I don't like rockabilly and the other stuff that was essential to inventing rock and roll. But I don't see how you can get away with calling it useless crap. It rules!
  • donkeyboy3 Friday, August 26, 2011 4:21 pm I agree, Billiam. It sucks.
  • Anonymous Monday, July 11, 2011 11:51 am Billiam, Under your opinion of "talent = good music" all pop, folk and blues should be deemed bad music and everyone should listen to nothing but classical music. The post Hippie scene of the early 70's, when everyone jumped on the bandwagon and started to grow their hair slightly long, stoners flocked to giant auditoriums to see their guitar gods in capes and skin-tight tights playing the most excellent leads. Punk was rejection of all that. It was a return to the dance floor. We're happy you don't like it. That's the point, we don't want you.
  • Billiam Monday, July 11, 2011 8:15 am Seeing this validates my opinion at the time (1978) -- punk sucks. Even the "kings of punk" were bad muscians. What was the fascination? It seems it was going to a show and getting out aggressions, fueled by 3-chord rock and screaming. I guess it was just the further burying of the 1960's. Hip-hop and rap is a big improvement on this crap. I will say it - the Emperor has no clothes. Signed, Music Lover.
