Concert Summary

This powerful and rare recording of the Ramones was culled from the private archives of the late Bill Graham. Recorded three days after Christmas in 1978 at Winterland in San Francisco, it features the seminal punk band in what many feel was its strongest musical period. I was at this show . Winterland was closing and The Tubes was and still is one of my favorites and I wanted to see them there one more time . The Ramones opened and put out enough energy to last till New Years . But the crowd really was'nt into punk rock and many booed . I thought they were great . D U M B everyone's accusing me , and proud of it. Thanx , David .

I think part of their appeal and message is that you don't have to be a master musician to play music and reach people on some lesson. Not taking anything away from MC5, etc.

I don't know why these talentless hacks are always mentioned in the same breath as the MC5,Stooges,and NY Dolls, but it is an insult to those fine bands to grouped in with likes of the Ramones,Sex Pistols and such, cretins who could barely if at all play their instruments.Best band ever, you've got to be kidding.Listen to Surfin' Bird.
