Concert Summary

The Ramones were a great, great American band. If you're reading this, you know that. Fourteen studio albums, several of them classics, 2,262 live shows. A million nights spent banging down the highway in a cramped van, hauling their over-worked butts from one dismal gig to the next. Never breaking through - not big-time, not the way they deserved to - but never giving up.

Their last album, Adios Amigos, true to form, tanked. This is a time when bands like Green Day,…entire summary

The Ramones are timeless music because they held firm to playing straight rock with aggression and attitude. I own this cd and just about every other release they made. I saw them with The Dickies in St. Louis in 83. Best damn concert I ever saw. What most people don't realize is the time period for this music was far ahead of it's time. The Ramones saved rock in the 70's from becoming what it is today by forcing the corporate music industry to look beyond a single hit and demand more. Demand a voice, demand change, demand representation of music in it's rawest forms. Isn't it strange that 4 kids from NYC could influence such a diversity of artist? Ask Eddie Vedder, Rob Zombie, Greenday, The Offspring, Def Leppard, Motorhead, U2, Metallica, Nirvana, The Clash who influenced them the most? You'll find The Ramones is the answer. Sadly, we don't have The Ramones with us anymore, but through their recordings they will live forever.
