Cannot beat the Furs for sheer snide intensity mixed with creative lyricism and driving chaotic music. I used to have a live recording of them at Tuts in Chicago form this tour, and they close with Flowers. As Richard Butler yells for the organized nonsense described in the song to "SHUT UP", it seems to encompass everything the Furs stand for. Awesome. I love first two discs, especially "Flowers", "Fall", "Soap Commercial", "Wedding Song", "Blacks/Radio" (amazing drumming transition in that), "Pulse" (LOVE the dig on John Lennon), and, of course, "India" "We Love You", n "Sister Europe. Then suddenly one hears "Talk, Talk, Talk" and they lift their power even higher! "Dumbwaiters", "It Goes On", "I Wanna Sleep With You"... SO MANY GREAT COMPOSITIONS! The bridge section of "It Goes On", with each instrument returning, adding to the power, then the upshift in speed of the sax - amazing. But I have to say "DUMBWAITERS" is the greatest of all. It stands astride the music world like a Colossus, defying description. A true achievement. Monumental.
