Concert Summary

The Pretenders have been a powerful force in music for nearly three decades, although today only vocalist/guitarist Chrissie Hynde and drummer Martin Chambers remain from the original 1978 lineup. After their first few albums, the band became mainly a vehicle for Hynde's songwriting and distinct vocals; but in the beginning, when this concert was captured, they were truly a band of collective strength and talent.

Carefully combining punk, new wave, power pop and…entire summary

All I can say is holy shit this is good stuff. Loved them to death. Had tickets to a show at the Springfield MA Civic Center but for some reason it was canceled (supposedly due to lack of sales?). As others have said James Honeyman Scott was brilliant and Pete could blast you with meaty muscular bass. I ran into Chrissy one time in a hotel lobby. I was just staring like an idiot. She was holding her baby. She walked up to me and said "you can talk to me, I'm a person too." Managed to mumble how much I loved her music but that was about it. This music reminds me of 1980, the year I graduated high school. James and Pete RIP -- your music lives on.

The Pretenders still rock, but James Honeyman-Scott was one of a kind.

Listening to this Live Performance of The Pretenders Is STUNNING in that It Really shows How Great of Musicians & Singer's they Are/Were. Just The Sheer Dynamic's & Control Between Loud and Soft Playing!, Its Uncanny, and Is A True Sign of "Great Musicianship"!
Especially Drummer Martin Chambers, Who Really Displays His Drumming Skills and Cuts Loose On "Tattooed Love Boys" especially!
Guitarist James Honeyman-Scott's Guitar Has A Great Analog Chours Effect that Sounds Very Similar to Alex Lifeson of Rush', Chours Guitar Sound of the Late '70's Early '80's! And Chrissy Is Scary Good Siger Live, Few Sound this Pro and Sure Live,Geez I Guess In Hindsight, The Pretenders Were A VERY GOOD BAND!
