Concert Summary

It was quite appropriate that when the house lights dimmed during The Monkees' 2001 tour, the fans heard first - above their screams - a taped recording of The Beatles singing "Boy, you've got to carry that weight, carry that weight…" Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones and …entire summary

What a great show and not surprising either, given the talent of these boys...sad that Wool Hat isn't here, but he has other projects that occupy his time and we think of him in a fondness....Mickey, Davy and Peter have carried the torch VERY well and we are the better for it! I love this concert....hope to see them again if they have the notion!

Oddly, the music stands the test of time...fun to listen to, but also oddly relevant

I saw Micky Dolenz perform at The Big E in West Springfield Mass. in September 2008. What a great time it was, I felt like a kid again. Everyone is a little older now but the show was just as exciting as watching The Monkees on TV back in the 60's. You can search through the photo site Flickr, and see him signing autographs and other photos from that show. Best regards to all Monkees fans, Peter... Wilbraham, Massachusetts

I have been a fan of The Monkees since I heard them as a child. I firt heard them on a badly scratched "Headquarters" LP and it made me cry. Since then, a tender age of 5, I have loved The Monkees. I watched them (Peter, Micky, and Davy) perform in Las Vegas and then at the Sun Theater at the actual taping of "The Monkees Summer Tour". What many don't know is that Micky Dolenz had been very ill and they postponed the original date by a week, which Micky was still a bit sick. What was taped at the Sun Theater was 1000 times better than any Las Vegas show.... which were sold out..... And for those who don't remember, the Monkees weren't meant to be a real band, but this taping.... well, I counted 4 generations all singing and dancing... thanks to our very own "prefab" four.... I love the Monkees, and always will.... so glad I married a fellow Monkees lover :)

this has always been fun stuff. i heard an interview with dolenz once and he made a comment on how weird it was to actually tour. his comparison was to say it was like starsky and hutch actually becoming cops. now there's a guy with a great sense of humor. you just have to love him for it. what fun it was to watch their show when i was a kid. the banana splits usually came on right afterwards. weirds times indeed. peace, jim

This music trancends any critical rap of any of them being legitimate musicians. They never denied they were "created" to be a tv show. I love this shit. It's in my DNA. The Monkees were a large cultural "rope" in the tapestry of the 60's. I can't imagine my memory banks without them. Bruce

They would of gained more credibility if reports about Peter Tork being the only trained musician in the bunch. Now I bought the firrst 3 LP's but I was only 10, 11 & 12. What a big leap when I was 16 when I purchased "The Allman Brothers Band -Live at the Filmore East". Music to me has never been the same. Mike from New Orleans, La.

Great set... however, it would have been better if the lead was sung by micky alone on Steppin' Stone , Mary Mary and For Pete's Sake. Micky has one of the all time great 'pop' voices... it lessend the effect of the song. All in all , the guys put on a great show.
