Concert Summary

This is a great example of The Marshall Tucker Band live, here debuting songs from their second album, A New Life, while expanding upon material from their classic self-titled first LP. After almost a year of touring huge venues as openers for the Allman Brothers, the group exudes a new confidence level. Their soulful gospel singing, bluesy guitar riffs and jazzy reed sounds continue to develop within their unique blend of country and rock.

As with the band's earlier Winterland performance, this…entire summary

Going to see them in a couple weeks in Fresno Ca. Have seen them maybe 6 or 7 times in the past. Hard to remember........ What a band!

Todays lineup is as good as ever. No they are not the original lineup but then again Lynyrd Skynyrd is not what it was without Ronnie. Doug unfortunantly has burned out his vocals but you will find no classier gentleman in the world then Mr. Doug Gray. I know the current lineup very well and will see them everytime they come to my area. By far one of the best live bands you could ever see. Keep rockin Doug and the rest of my brothers from MTB. One day maybe they will get the recognition and voted into the Hall of Fame as they should be. Chris Hicks will be missed as well Clay Cook but am glad to have the chance to see Stuart jam on some killer "slide" once again. The new man on horns (Marcus) is as good as they get. The man can blow the sax like no other. BB on drums is one of the all time greats on the skins. Pat on bass is as classic of bass riffs you can imagine. I look forward to meeting the newest member of the band come September in Fresno CA. See you boys there!!!

Doug Gray's vocals pure and powerful, what a combination of players. It's good to know all these years later;now that the drug induced haze is gone...these guys REALLY did kick ass!

Seen them at Syracuse U. around 73 ,4 ? Strange road trip, hitching from Buffalo. Caught rides from a bread truck, a hearse and an off fare cabbie. Great show

Toy was a tremendous guitar player, and one of the best songwriters that ever lived...

  • Freddie Moller | Saturday, January 03, 2009 | 11:09 am

Nobody could thumb pick guitar with the intensity of Toy Caldwell; his phrasing was unlike that of anyone else. He was a true original. After all these years of listening to him, I still get that initial thrill from hearing his playing.
