Concert Summary

Early in their lengthy hour and a half set, it becomes apparent that this is going to be a great show. The Kinks were notorious for either being amazing in concert, or incredibly sloppy, usually thanks to that old demon alcohol. Fortunately, they put on far more amazing shows than bad ones, and this is a killer concert.

Recorded on the band's 1977 Sleepwalker tour, it is hard to think that three decades have passed since this memorable show was first aired on the King Biscuit Flower Hour. This tour marked a return to the…entire summary

AMEN on the liner notes about the often overlooked value of Waterloo Sunset. Beautiful song. After 45 years I still love the Davies Bros.!

What a show! The only bummer is the omission of 20th Century Man, which Ray introduces after Everybody's A Star. But I'm splitting hairs. This is The Kinks live, period.

This is a great Kinks concert. They were a popular band in Cleveland and they perform many a memorable show, especially the "Schoolboys" show. Rock on Billy K!

Nice mixture of Preservation, School days and Soap Opera. Mick Avory doesn't get the respect he deserves. To play in the Kinks as long as he did. His drumming in all of the years with the Kinks can only be measured in the many styles he had to play. Ok, he wasn't the flashy Neil Peart or technically sound as Bill Bruford, i think he was pretty solid and original rock drummer. My favorite band of all time is THE KINKS- I caught Ray and his touring band last year in Madison Wisconsin and though i loved seeing him in such a great mood and singing so well-One could tell that he missed his brother dearly and could only talk about him in between every song. Despite their friction, it's what made them The Kinks

Never say the Kinks live sadly but have always loved them. This is a great concert, well recorded and obviously well played on the night. Recently caught Ray Davies in Sydney with his current line up and he was sensational! Voice still great, ever the provative racconteur and he played all the Kinks greats plus a selection from his own "solo" songbook. A Great Night with my son and a couple of good mates.
