Concert Summary

Recorded at the very end of the band's 1977 Sleepwalker tour on Christmas Eve, this is one of the most incredible live Kinks recordings ever captured. After being on the road for nearly a solid year, the band was shit-hot, and that is reflected here in a set that was unusually tight for a band that made a career out of being often drunk on stage. Not only did the band sound great, Ray Davies picked one of the best and most encompassing set lists the band ever offered its fans.

The show covered all periods in the legendary rockin' band's career from its early British Invasion…entire summary

Great stuff! I saw the Kinks many times during this and even their first "return" show at Bill Graham's Filmore East supporting a new album at the time, "Lola vs. the Powerman." Even though Ray gets the major credit, they were a great band! Their material is original and holds up well.

Thank God for this sight; I had recorded this song and a few other songs from this show on an old cassette back, what? over 25 years ago. The tape fell apart, but I had a fairly good version of "Sleepwalker" that survived. But here, wow, it's like hearing it for the first time. VERY CLEAR. Christ, listen to how clear this is !!! Thanks from a veteran. Tony

I have seen the Band and the Man about 20 times from Philly, NYC, Boston, SF etc...have tix for the "Kinks Choral Collection" at the Tower next week! This 77' show is a great piece from what I consider the Kinks transition period from cult band to arean stars. GOD SAV RAY and the boys!

Saw Ray in Asbury Park, NJ in December the last show of his tour and he said I hope to see you soon with my brother. Long Live The Kinks

I heard a rumor last year that Dave Davies is recovering from his stroke and the Kinks will be touring possibly in 2010. Did you know that they are the only original 60's band whose members are all still alive? I hope the rumor is true because I'm definitely gonna be there! I've been a fan ever since I heard their song "Dedicated Follower of Fashion" over the radio in the 60's!

This is one of the great concerts of all time. I recorded it off the Radio way back when and the tape broke! I have been waiting for it to come out here. Finally. . .

my first kinks show was on this tour with cheap trick opening in oklahoma city. what a great show! the next time they were in town for the "misfits" tour and tom petty opened. petty set the tone with a kickass set, and the kinks answered with a torrid show.
