Concert Summary

The Hooters were arguably one of the best rock bands to emerge from Philadelphia. Although their global success was limited to the first couple of albums and a few MTV video hits from 1984/85, The Hooters were hometown heroes in Philly (and their native Ardmore, PA), which peaked with an appearance at the U.S. version of Live Aid.

This show, recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour on Halloween 1985, came three months after the band's historic Live…entire summary

Great show. Wore out my "Nervous Night" cassette back when. Sounds like the "Time After Time" and "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" tracks from this show are the ones on the "Hooterization" compilation CD. Glad to hear they're still out there somewhere doing stuff. (See http://www.myspace.com/thehooters as commented earlier.)

I saw them in 85, they played after a Sixes game... It was incredible!!!

They were huge in Philly at this time. I was at this show, too. A guy buy the name of Andy Frazier opened up, I believe. It was a great show.

I can't make any tall claims to these guys other than I saw them on tour opening for Bryan Adams on the west coast in 87. I never saw these guys before but they definately kept pace with Bryan Adams & kept his act honest. Judging from the audience reaction you would've been hard pressed to tell who was the headliner as the ovation was defening for them. I liked what I saw so much I caught their next gig in Reno 2 days later & the audience went crazy there as well...the Hooters remain the only band I did this for.

A great show from a great band on the rise. Would be great to see the famed '87 Thanksgiving Show pop up on the site.

I grew up with these guys. The original lineup was Dave U on drums & John Kuzma from Levittown, Pa & Eric & Rob from somewehre other than Levittown... Philly area. John Kuzma was/is a great guitarist. He was the original vocalist on Fightin on the Same Side. If you want to hear a much more raw version of this, check out YOUTUBE. Personally, I prefer them from back before they were signed. All You Zombies was a totally different song back then. I saw them a number of times in Levittown & Philly & they were great. "What if God Was One of Us" blew me away... Eric wrote that!

One of the hidden gems from the 80's. Incredible musicians, it shocks me that this band didn't have greater success. I saw them numerous times while in high school outside of Philadelphia. This is the best lineups that the band had, Andy King rocks as a bassist and backing vocals. Does anyone know whatever happened to Andy?

Hooters are still touring in Europe to devoted fans. They have released many more CDs than in the U.S. there as well. You can find them on MySpace, etc.. http://www.myspace.com/thehooters There is a lot that's happened for them since the Philly days. They write for a lot of artists you may know and the shows are worth seeing if you have the chance.

I was at this show and remember it as a great performance. It was a big deal for them to play The Tower at that time and they clearly put a lot into it because of a very energetic and adoring hometown crowd. I believe this is an abbreviated version of the show.
