Concert Summary

Along with Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and the Byrds (from which some of the members came), the Flying Burrito Brothers are widely credited as being among the founding fathers of the modern country-rock movement.

This is the second of two shows recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1982 at the Sundown Club in New York. By the time they did this show, the band was essentially a traditional country act with some rock leanings. None of the members remained from the original line-up, but they maintained much of the original band's musical brilliance and traditional country…entire summary

All thoug I think they was a great band with Beland (and Joe Skott Hill) Gilbeau, Skip Battin Sneaky Pete and Gene Parsons, saw them 3 times live. I also saw them in the Rick Robets version, but never Whit Chris Hillman, think it?s a pitty that Gram Parsen gets all the chredits for FBB, Chris was the one who was the serious one, but luckely he got his credits whit Desert Rose Band, hes a exelent and nice person whom deserwes all the the credit, good bless him Gert Denmark

The previous comments aren't totally fair to Beland in my opinion. He joined a bad bar band version of the Burritos and made them a whole lot better through songwriting, performing and producing. Towards the end, the albums he made as "FBB" are actually quite good (especially "California Jukebox", "Sons of the Golden West" and "Eye of a Hurricane") (At the time John Jorgenson left the Desert Rose Band, I was hoping Hillman would have replaced him with Beland - he would have similarly extended the life of that group.) No, this band isn't Gram and Chris, but they still made some good records. And I don't think anyone ever thought that using the name "Burrito Bros." was exactly a ticket to fame and fortune. The only complaint I have with this performance is not about the playing, but that every time - every single time - there's a steel or piano solo (no matter how short), Beland or Guilbeau feel a need to yell out "Avery Burdette!" or "Larry Marvel on steel!" Quiet please John and Gib - we know who they are after the first song. Let them play.

The John Beland Version of this band is better left dead & forgotten. These guys might sound OK, but let Sneaky & Gram rest in peace in dignity.

Not bad, but definately NOT the Flying Burrito Brothers. FBB is one of the greatest groups of all time. Sort of a nice tribute act, though.

They might as well have called themselves The Beatles (or insert your favorite band name). Not one original member!
