The Flamin' Groovies

This pop-rock band was formed in the Bay Area in 1965 but was overshadowed by psychedelic jam bands on the San Francisco scene. They were most popular in the Midwest, where they toured before returning to California, where they booked concerts at the Fillmore. That venture ended when their business manager disappeared with the receipts. The band subsequently toured Europe, Australia, and New Zealand through the beginning of the 1980s, and they were particularly popular in France.
