Concert Summary

The Divinyls might have been introduced to audiences around the globe as part of the 1980s' Australian Assault that spawned Men at Work, Midnight Oil, INXS, and Crowded House, but that's as close as they've ever come to being placed in any kind of familiar category. man, i saw her LIVE, young & intensely powerful/vulnerable/out there twice. portland, oregon. she jumped on guitarist mcentee's back. she threw water at him while he was playing plugged in, she came out wielding an axe! & all the time this incredible group of musicians wailed & beat out primitive rhythms from the darkest center of the bush. god, she was 'it'. she was as fab as mick jagger & as pervo, but, well, you know... stuff reserved for men only. this group never got the praise they deserved. our musician friends, guys, gagged over her later 'i touched myself' & ha ha ha'd it. want me to tap at you how many songs all the way from antiquity to today guys have pumped their monkeys, slapped, begged, glorified their needs... & what do they get, pumped up applause they are the greatest. they become gods. none of those 'oils' or 'men at work', etc. had 'it' like the divinyls. so happy to hear this concert. wish i could buy it.

They're in excellent form here. If only there were more from this and the 'Temperamental' era.

saw them on the 'desperate' tour 3x (1st album, which has been re-released, finally, on Caroline label in limited edition packaging..check the usual sources on line..unless you are fortunate enuff to have a local cool record(!)store)...to this day Christine is the most amazing performer I've ever seen..and I grew up with a concert promoter for a Dad!

I saw these guys (& Gal) open for Aerosmith in Fresno around this time. Oh Boy. Talk about getting a crowd riled up, Chrissy had all the girls booing, and all the guys Yeahing, inside of ten minutes. At one point near the end she tells the girls, "You animals in the audience,Oy, just why don't you get out?". Perfect! She remains to this day, my favorite Female Vocalist of all times. Killer Recording WV!!
