Concert Summary

This show captures The Chambers Brothers at the tail end of their first major North American tour, happy to be back home in California and playing between Richie Havens and Buffalo Springfield. They were experiencing their greatest success at the time, so this is a particularly enjoyable show to listen in on. The band was going through a lot of changes in 1968 when…entire summary

Well, I lived with the late Brian Keenan for 4 years. Was privileged to have attended many, many shows. Hearing these shows live is great because recording never did capture the excitement. To 'anonymous' who wants Love, peace and happiness....MANY copies are available on Ebay. Radia....I loved reading your story about Willie and Brian hiding in the backseat when you were stopped by a the police. That sounds SO like Brian....oh man, I am listening to his drum solo now. I feel him very much with me...as a presence. He is at Peace. I am grateful that I can still hear his laugh in my head....and for these recordings...and your comments. Bonnie Stamford, CT

the brothers were all great folks, tho' I was only 17 they bought me lunch, we hung out for 3 days in Tahoe then in SF for the big gigs. Brian was especially humble and when stopped by redneck cops in Tahoe in my english ford van with a flower on the side, at night, willie and brian hid in the back, cops never saw them and let us all go on to a kick ass party at my house between sets. They would never have made it back to the concert in the uptight racist-pig climate of the time--wait it's still goin' on.WAKE UP PEOPLE-ASSERT OUR RIGHTS WITHOUT FAIL!!!

I saw them four times. First and third were at The Frost Amphitheatre next was at the Pleasenton fairgrounds last at the Northern Cal Pop Festival, At the San Jose Fairgrounds all four tims were just great showes with lots of other name bands from the time, I think the best was the last in San Jose A three day event The Brothers were top billing on Friday night,Led Zeppelin on Saturday And Jimi Hendrix Experience on Sunday. What A Great weekend I was just Fifteen at the time One thing that i remember before Jimi hendrix played Lee Michales and Frosty played A great set, that is until frosty missed the drum he wanted to hit, that sent A very broken bone out of his wrist I think either way there was lots of blood, it was quite different from any other showes and it only cost Six Dollars per day to bad I missed Saturdays show, Led Zeppelin was top that day. Great times, I sure do miss them.

Why is it that you have Buffalo Springfield recordings, but you don't release them? In fact, except for one Byrds show, you haven't released any 60s bands from L.A. What's up with that? No Doors, no Love, no Spirit. I have written a year ago and told to be patient. Well?

I'd like to see the "Last Live Appearance" at Winterland. That was a gooood trip. . My cat did that. He gives the Bros a double plus.
