Concert Summary

Bulletboys came at the end of the LA glam metal movement, when groups like Quiet Riot, Cinderella, and Ratt were all the rage both on the concert trail and on the still-novel media outlet, MTV. Bulletboys was spearheaded by singer Marq Torien and guitarist Mick Sweda. Torq had been a regular on the Sunset Blvd club scene for years, including a short stint as a guitarist for Ratt, and Sweda came from Carmine Appice's post-Ozzy band, King Kobra. Prior to that, Sweda was a member of Ratt for a period of only three to four months.

I remember seeing this on pay per view. I thought they were terrible then. I Gave it a listen now, it's still terrible. Torien is worse than the drunkest DLR.

Saw this first tour in Amarillo, TX in '89. Winger and Cinderella were also on the bill. BBoys were so raw and powerful. I actually ran into Marq and Jimmy in the parking lot scoping out the growing line and they were genuinely excited to be where they were. I thought they were going to be just huge but it never ended up that way. There was a lot of great music put out after the first album that people missed out on. I still dig these guys and met & partied with them a few years back as well... real cool and laid back. My wife didn't like the fact that I came in at 5 the next morning, but I wouldn't trade the experience!

good show, i liked their first 3 album but have never heard them live, could certainly cut it and makes me wonder why they weren't bigger than they were, the one thing that i did i notice that i'd never noticed before is how much the vocalist sounds like udo from accept

I was at this show. They opened for Ozzy when he did what was hyped as the first Metal pay-per-view event. There were all kinds of delays because of the TV stuff. The Bullet Boys were abused by the crowd as a result. The fans were restless for Ozzy to come out. Torien didn't handle it well.

I always thought the singer reminded me of Captain Harris from the Police Academy movies wearing a David Lee Roth wig.
