Concert Summary

Dressed in Killer Bee costumes, John Belushi and Dan Akroyd performed Slim Harpo's classic blues song, "I'm A King Bee" to the delight of Saturday Night Live audiences. The genesis of the Blues Brothers can be traced back to this moment in January of 1976. Shortly after joining the cast of SNL, Akroyd rented the Holland Tunnel Blues Bar, which quickly became the hangout of SNL's guests, cast, and crew members. With a jukebox stocked with blues songs and musical equipment available for anyone in the mood to jam, it was here that the Blues Brothers concept was born. SNL's music…entire summary

This band could never have been a joke with the musician line-up. Great stuff! Another show I attended, the night we said good-night to Winterland. I also saw the BBs at a media convention where I had a seat so close to the stage I put my drink on it! Belushi was about 5 feet from me doing the Blues Bros thing...classic ;)

Thanks for the share Wolfgang! What started out as a joke turned into a entertaining band. Sometime prior to this show,John Belushi had hired Joe Walsh's "Safekeeper" to keep him away from his habits. Yet while on stage at this show, John consumed a few glasses of laced Champagne that was handed to him by a member of the audience. He then proceded to trip the night away. What a performance, yet what a watse of pure talent.

Can anyone get this to show to load on the iphone app for Wolfgang's Vault? It seems like most of the new releases won't load. Is it just me?

I was at this show and I loved it! Before the Blues Bros came on, I was sitting upstairs right above the door to the backstage and I accidentally spilled a coke and it landed on John Belushi and a Hell's Angel, the whole row of peeps were ready to run and peered over the ledge and said I was sorry and they said it was cool, whew. All in all, the show was epic!

Music performed at this level by some legendary musicians like Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn, Willie Weeks & company was FUN ! This Winterland performance proves my point.
