Saw this. Horde Festival. Distinctly remember tripping on shoooms looking at all the weird faces in the backdrop.

Salvando las distancias, no os recuerda High Head Blues algo a The Allman Brothers Band? Saludos.

Doug, You are so right! Luther is great, but it's a crime that they couldn't have recorded some new material before Marc checked out again. I saw them in Tokyo in '05 (short set due to rock festival logistics, but it was pretty awesome).

Woaw Taj + Crowes= a really great match. The band is making Taj bust his pipes for some of his best singing. Fantastic!

Settle down, gmgw. There are ways of pointing out a mistake without acting like a "Know-It-All" jerk. Anyway, great show here. This was the Black Crowes in their prime. '94-'97 and agin from '05-'06 were the best live years for The Crowes, in my opinion. '09 was the best after Marc left, in my opinion.

Thanks for the clarification, gmgw. We always do our best at the Vault to present the most complete and accurate information available concerning performers and their work, but occasionally mistakes are made. Especially in rich and complicated traditions like those of blues and folk music, the details of a song’s origins can be difficult to pin down. As always, we will continue to research and update the information on our site and in our correspondence. Cheers, WV

Since when did Taj Mahal write "Chevrolet"?! It's based on an old rhythm piece long known in black music as "Hambone". It was a standard item in the repertoires of New Orleans street bands, back before Taj was born. Geoff & Maria Muldaur recorded it (in a lot funkier version than this rocked-up piece of crap) in 1964 with the Jim Kweskin Jug Band. Both Donovan & the Animals recorded it in 1965 under the title "Hey Gyp". Geoff Muldaur recorded it again (as "Chevrolet/Big Alice") with a terrific New Orleans horn arrangement on his magnificent 1998 "Secret Handshake" album. All praise to Taj as a great popularizer of black folk music, but Wolfgang's research department really blew it on this one.

I saw this tour at the Nissan Pavilion in Manassas and the band that made the biggest impression on me was Wilco. They played at a small side stage and RAWKED HARD! I had never heard of them prior to this show, but afterwards I immediately went and bought their new cd at the time - A.M. Oh, the Crows also kicked ass!
