Always reminds me of my older sister - she turned my mind on to so much music and The Band was one of the first with Music From Big Pink - I was 10 yrs old and never looked back... RIP Levon

Looks like Lavon has pulled into Nazareth a little more than half past...

RIP to one of the Greats!

My 2nd concert ever was The Band in the Summer of '70 @ the Mississippi River Festival on the campus of Southern Illinois University, the same venue for my 1st show seeing Janis the year before, and the dead also there later in '70. The Band blew me away, even though I was still just a kid, not yet turned on but certainly tuned in. The Band was an inspirational group, the very best rock music has ever had to offer. Levon, thank you for all you've given us over your life. It's now time to rest and please know, you are missed...

    Peace,
    Steve

The very first concerts the Band every played AS the Band were at Winterland in 1969, and I was wondering if there were any recordings of those shows to look forward to. As it is, though, isn't this one a treat--the whole show. I'd always wondered what the rest of the show sounded like, and now I know!
