Concert Summary

This recording comes from the original Allman Brothers Band lineup and was the west coast counterpart to the famous Fillmore East gigs, also recorded in 1971. The Fillmore East tapes eventually became the source for the Allman Brothers's legendary At Fillmore East release, one of the best selling rock albums ever and widely regarded by rock historians and critics as the greatest live album of all time.

The six songs are mostly all on the Fillmore East LP, but they are clearly different takes and contain a different feel and energy than those on the famous double live…entire summary

Love it. What else can you say?

This version of the Wipping Post is amazing. It is more like jazz than rock or blues, parts of it sound a bit like Miles Davis with a guitar, but then it builds and builds in intensity

As a working drummer for 35 years, I can say with assurance that Berry Oakley is the bassist I'd most like to have jammed with. Check it out on Dreams at about 5:35. Beautiful stuff.

The first time I got laid was listening to " In memory of Elizabeth Reed". Can it get any better than that? When we lost Duane and the rest the Music World shuddered and lost so much.

IMOER( In Memory of Elizabeth Reed ) May be to this day, one of the most prolific Jams ever!! Weaving in and out of the guitar riffs of Duane& Dickie went from so sweet to hard hitting riffs, words can't even attempt to touch on this stuff!! The Drummers are as all ways outstanding, & Berry Oakley's bass,& vocals are excellent Gregg's Hammond B3 is unbelievable

  • The Whale | Thursday, October 08, 2009 | 6:52 pm
