Concert Summary

On this date, Bill Graham assembled a stellar roster of bands to participate in the filming of a television special called Welcome To The Fillmore East for broadcast on educational channels. Short sets were filmed by the Byrds, the Elvin Bishop Group, Sha-Na-Na, Van Morrison, and the Allman Brothers Band, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of Bill Graham and the Fillmore East staff at work.

The Allman Brothers performance is nothing short of spectacular and features the original lineup that included Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. Recorded six months prior to the legendary…entire summary

I started a blog on Duane Allman. It's a fictional diary of Duane's experience as leader of the Allman Brothers Band starting March 23, 1969, 43 years to the day when Duane first assembled the band. It's written for those who listen to and think about Duane and his legacy. Any help you want to offer I'd appreciate. I’ve tried to be accurate with events, dates, times, setlists, etc.

Saw the band ten days later [Oct. 3, 1970] at Centre College in Kentucky, thanks to Bill Spencer. Haven't been the same since.

There is video to go with this..I've seen it! Supposedly this was filmed for a Public Television special. The ABB were not included because of Greg's faulty microphone.

If you've ever wondered what the ABB sounds like without vocals, this is it. Well, until about 6:30 into Dreams. ('Course it can be done with a synthesizer, but who'd want to?) Still, a historic concert and the Brothers were hot and tight.

    YEP!

  • Greenman7612 | Sunday, August 15, 2010 | 3:40 pm

As for other video of Duane, YouTube has the Loave Valley concert which someone kindly married up with the sound track to post in 7 different pieces. I think if you search for 7-17-70 (or 7-19-70) you will find it. Dickey is kind of quiet in the Mountain Jam but it was 1970 afterall! His playing is tasty never the less and Duane, well Duane is and always will be out of this world!

This is the show for which video is widely available. However, the video that I have seen is very grainy besides being poorly shot, For example - focusing on Duane when Dickey plays and Dicky when Duane is playing.
