Concert Summary

Following sets by the Charlie Daniels Band and The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers Band take the stage. Understandably, this night never reaches the incredible heights of the previous night and is a far more relaxed affair in comparison. Still there are enjoyable moments and some interesting guests joining them onstage.

The recording misses the first song, "Wasted Words" and…entire summary

On Stormy Monday, that is... Track 3.

Being a bass player, I get a kick outta the band dropping out of the mix @ 2:24 and the bass (and breathy compression) are about all you hear for 40 seconds or so.

The tape speed is too slow. I can understand that maybe they were tired and played the songs at a more relaxed pace, but the voices are lower. Are you saying that they were tired and therefore sang in a lower register? It's particularly noticeable in "Blue Sky". I don't think this set was ready for prime time.

Yes! These were all real Musicians...Growing up without all these Distractions that our Young Generation have today...Not to mention the Loss of Gregg & Duane's Father at the Age of 3...These young Cats had little to do back then,So many of our Great Talents of that era came from Broken Homes as well, being
raised with little Money...If one was fortunate enough to get a Instrument for Christmas at a very young age. That would be their Pride & Joy....School Grades came 2nd...most of them couldn't wait until School was out so they could rush home to practice for Hrs.at a time,7 days a week without any Lessons.. just what they would hear on the Radio,or those 45-Records that cost a $1 each back then,The Albums were $4.98,most of them by the time they were 15 yrs.old were ready to Jam with the Big Ones...Everyone would have a Style of their own..This Southern Bluesy Rock was mainly Born in the 60's..The Day Duane put that Glass Medicine Bottle on his Finger by accident. His Slide Guitar Style was Born,& who would have ever Dreamed by putting Two Bands together would create such a Unique Sound we've been able to enjoy for all these years. Thanks to The Allman Brothers,& The Famous Dicky Betts bringing their Bands together to Form one of The Hottest Southern Rock Blues Bands of all Times,& Special Thanks to the Late Berry Oakley one more Helluva Bass Man,that also left us at a very young Age....Mr.Daniels found out rather fast the advantage of using Two Drummers...The reason I can relate to this is simply because I was raise up in the 60's myself playing the Guitar,& Tenor Sax most of my Life...I even had My Relatives to open for Betts during a Tour he did in the Mid to the Ladder part of 1974.Gosh! what a Year for Betts & so Many others...It was such a Pleasure to have known & met most of these Great Musicians that just seem to come along once during our Life time, Although the Good Lord has taken many from us now...I sure Thank God for The ones we still have,& all The Great Music they all have Blessed us with along with The Nice Folks at Wolfgang's Vault for furnishing us such a Great Selection of all This Great Music From the Past & so Much more.Thank You! & May God Bless You All.....Lets Continue to Enjoy all This Great Talent.
    Respectively,
    Link Scott,Jr.
    From VA.
