Concert Summary

Mike Peters can still recall the moment, in 1980, when he came to realize precisely "what direction I wanted to move in life." At the time, Peters was an ex-member of Seventeen, a Mod revival band from the Welsh town of Rhyl, who'd managed one single and a tour with the Jam before their ambitions all went pear-shaped. Since then, he'd been running a club and a clothing stall in town, but the band members didn't fall out of touch, and a few months after Peters' Marquee epiphany, in April, 1981, Dave Sharp, Nigel Twist and Eddie MacDonald were all back rehearsing together. Just two years…entire summary

This band deserved the fame and recognition that U2 achieved.

Great band! I had the opportunity to see them at the Ritz in NYC...actually got to meet Dave and Mike...very personable and gracious. Saw them again at the Paradise in Boston...great memories...certainly an overlooked and under-rated band.

Saw them open for U2 the night before.I was 13 years old and it was the first show I had ever been to.An older sibling told me that I shouldn't expect anything from any opening act and that I should show up late and choose a cool t-shirt or something instead of bothering with the opener.I wanted to take in every drop of the musical experience and I'm glad I did.Whenever any newbie U2 fan asks me what it was like to see them in the 80's,I ALWAYS mention the alarm's opening set.

Saw The Alarm on a couple of occasions in the 80s. Aston Villa leisure Centre, the night MP had been tempoarily blinded and the show had to be rescheduled to the next week and the end of a tour finale at a club in Bham. Don't remember much about the first night but the club gig was an absolute triumph.......a good old fashioned rock band pumping out the goods. Good humour, relaxed atmosphere and a band at the top of their game. Loved it!! Any Alarm fans please feel free to remind me of the venue, I spent most of the 80s either asleep or pissed at some rock gig or club so the memory can be a little vague :)

Great band.... very underestimated, really. The Metro concert is a highlight on this site.

Still hoping for the original band to reunite. Cheers to Mike for continuing The Alarm with new members but in my opinion there is no Alarm without Dave, Eddie and Nigel.
