Concert Summary

This swashbuckling Ted Nugent concert was captured for the King Biscuit Flower Hour on August 29, 1975 at Central Park in New York City. This show took place only a few months after Nugent's self-titled debut solo album hit stores. The Motor City Madman and co. are in fine form, as they perform four of songs from Nugent's seminal 1975 release.

After a nearly 10-minute jam session, the group opens up the second track from the aforementioned record, "Stormtroopin'." The five-and-a-half minute tune shows off Nugent's bluesy lead playing and the warm, powerful vocals of vocalist Derek St.…entire summary

it rocks Hibernation sounds like his guitar sings

Nugent's pure inventiveness and unbeatable tone on Hibernation show why is one of rock's greatest guitar players. Rolling Stone doesn't seem to agree - for some reason he didn't make their latest "top 100 guitarist" lists - but that shouldn't be surprising...

Good grief.. Hibernation in its pure infancy. Listen to the power that Rob Grange's bass injects into this romp!!! Nugent was an absolute fool for letting his ego get in the way of keeping this band together. Nugent is still playing like it meant something and he had something to prove.

As said before this is Vintage Ted Nugent. So cool listening to this early perfomance. A must have if you like Ted. However the first song is not a jam. It's actually Hibernation and this show was recorded BEFORE his first solo record!! Anyway...this is AWESOME!!!!!

All-right! Now this is some classic vintage Nugent. I love the first album, probably my favorite. The first four are all great w/ St Holmes. Im so glad they dug this up.

It is worth noting that this particular show was performed at the "Schaefer Music Festival", on the Wollman Skating Rink. A very nice piece considering this performance predates the release of Ted Nugent.(Ted's 1st solo album). Also on the Bill this same day was Aerosmith, which by the way, is also available for listening here at Wolfgangs Vault...WV ROCK$!!!
