Concert Summary

Canada's legendary 1980 Heatwave Festival was the brainchild of concert promoter John Brower, who was based in Toronto. Brower established his reputation a decade prior, as the man behind the 1969 Rock and Roll Revival concert at Varsity Stadium (AKA "Live Peace In Toronto," which featured John Lennon's debut live performance outside The Beatles) and the three-day Woodstock-esque Strawberry Fields Festival held at Ontario's Mosport Park the following summer. For Canadians, as well as thousands of Americans and Europeans who traveled to this event, Brower's Heatwave Festival would become…entire summary

    I can't judge the performance... because I'm not worthy of such magnificence!

    LOL re: the anon remark about "Miss Piggy" on track 8. Sure sounds like it. ROTFL, it's hard to type while listening to it.

    @Jodro… maybe they didn't have the multi-track tapes… you try riding vocals from within a stereo track… ; )>

    Fantastic. However, the vocal levels are all over the place, often too loud, occasionally too soft. Before I part with my money, is it possible to send someone with a good pair of ears into a studio to spend a day or so riding the vocal levels? You charge virtually the same as major record companies do for albums that took months to record, so I think you need to up the quality of your product a bit. Kudos for not trying to airbrush these recordings, but these vocal levels really need adjusting.

    I can't judge the performance because the sound quality is shit. Sorry Wolfgang, a rare slip up. Should have left this one in the vault.

    I was at Heatwave...and was a big Talking Heads fan, having seen them around a dozen times prior to this show. And this set still stands among my top ten live concert experiences. In those pre-Internet days, the big band was a total surprise -- and it was an incredible scene seeing a hillside of some 100,000 people dancing to this amazing, fresh music. One for the ages!!!!

    Saw Talking Heads plenty of times. Punk till you puke. Least you didn't try using new wave. Saw this line up about ten times or so and five or ten times before this line up.
