Concert Summary

CBGB's, that venerated, grimy hole-in-the-wall that represents a rite of passage for leather and denim clad poseurs, closed its doors for good in 2006, pushing the Bowery drunks and gormandizers out into the stinking night to seek uplifting elsewhere (or to buy a t-shirt in St. Mark's Place). Though the opportunity to be drenched in the sweat of punk's pin-ups of tomorrow has passed, a brief glimpse of what made the place famous can be heard in the unnerving vocals of David Byrne and the icy, syncopated rhythms of the …entire summary

Can someone look into the date... years ago I heard Sun. 02/12/78; the May 31 date can not be correct in that they were in Europe touring with the Ramones from early May to early June of 1977; I've also seen Sun. 11/06/77 at CBGB's or even at The Palladium (?); who's got the real facts...?

I saw the Heads a few months after this, at the Jabberwocky Club at Syracuse University (their second time playing the Jab). I went on the strength of hearing Psycho Killer played on the campus radio station and the quirky posters for the show. I was an Upstate New York guy and the club was filled with hip punksters (or was it punk hipsters?) who seemed to know the songs and the group pretty well. In any case, it was a great show and I'm glad I was able to catch them at the beginning of a great career.

Very nice... it made me pick up my guitar, turn on the amp... and jam a long. It would have been great to be at that concert!

Was the set just 20 minutes or is that all that got recorded?

I was a college student in Massachusetts at the time, and a staunch classic rock fan. Initially suspicious of the new trends. It was precisely the TH and Elvis Costello who made me change views. Thanks for sharing this gem!

wow. a 20 minute set. I have never done this...wait. I take it back. At the "blues competition" we had 10 minutes. went over.
wish the T.H. had. it was raw, but isn't life? They sounded the same their entire musical life, just "polished"...
