Concert Summary

As many may already know, on the final night (July 4th) of the closing week festivities at Fillmore West a lengthy jam session occurred, featuring many great musicians and singers. What few remember is that a similar event occurred earlier in the week (on the first night, June 30); it was this jam session, in fact, that provided the two tracks that made it onto the Fillmore: The Last Days live release.

    I am not sure why, but Taj Mahal has always kind of bored me. Elvin always makes the crowd have a good time. No one is credited for playing flute on the first tune.

    Elsie , We have the Santana III deluxe set , and it's way incompete . WV posted the Santana set for a couple days , some time back , and it was more complete than that Columbia CD . Please bring it back . Thanx , David .

    Murthe - the Santana set is on deluxe edition of Santana III (btw, the Woodstock set is on deluxe edition of Santana I)

    Murthe1-2 i have the 6 LP "Fillmore Last Days" vinyl box set that featured all the bands that played on those nights. It has a booklet inside that lists all the musicians on each track, it's somewhere buried in my garage though with the rest of whats left of my old vinyl collection but if i remember the next time i'm out there i'll try to dig it out and see if Lydia was on these tracks.

    I see Lydia Pense of Cold Blood is'nt mentioned on the credits . Sure sounds like her on Long and Tall . Cold Blood , also played that night . Is the rest of this great week's music , that is'nt on The Vault yet , going to be available soon . Still waiting for Hot Tuna , Quicksilver , New Riders , Santana and the final night jam session.
